Echoes of Mine - M83

/ Sunday, October 23, 2011 /
Okay, a few days ago I decided I was 'in love' with Anthony Gonzalez of M83. I know it may be oh so rash of me to drop all this on your lap, but I decided I must tell the truth. To be honest, this has been going on for a while.

Back in 2008, when I was a fresh eyed high school senior, I heard my first M83 song. It was "Kim & Jessie". This song changed my life. This is the song that has since then led me to believe that European music could automatically kick American music's ass. Hands down, this would be the beating of a lifetime; this would be no Rocky (the first of course!) style fight. As I had this song on non-stop replay, I decided that this 'artist' would be one whose music I should explore more. I did this by going to iTunes and discovering than, in fact, M83 is not just music, but an artistic expression of the soul. I went on to purchase Saturdays=Youth from iTunes for $12.99. Back then, this was a ton of money. To this day, it still is. (I get paid the lovely wage of $8/hour. And my job is SO not worth it.) Anyway, to this day, I find that Saturdays=Youth is the only expression of my soul; aside of "Sleep the Clock Around" by Belle and Sebastian.

After discovering them, I would get on my laptop, and find my iTunes on M83's page. And for the longest time, whenever I would look at the page, they had quite a deuchy picture of Anthony Gonzalez. While he looked like quite a dick-ish deuche, I thought to myself that maybe it was the picture that made him look like this.

Imagine how happy I was when earlier this year, "Midnight City" came out, as well as all this press surrounding M83... and of course Anthony Gonzalez. This time, when the pictures came out, he was not looking as the previous pictures made him out to look, but rather he looked like a mid-20's uber hot Frenchman. Which he is; except for the fact that he's 30. I am so serious. Look it up.

Anyway, the point of all of this is... is there a point? Oh yes. Anthony Gonzalez has the most insightful soul that is able to create these masterful pieces of art, also called music. I believe that this is why I think I am 'in love' with him. Well, that and the fact that he is the hottest Frenchman that I've ever seen, who is also straight up legit, doesn't hurt.

Well, that's it for this round of "How Crazy is This Chick?" Until next time, let's be free to be you and me; let's be young and free!
