I just turned 29, and I'm never not surprised.

Happy belated birthday to me, dear blog!

Friday, at 3:44 in the afternoon, I turned 29. Not to be this person, but deep down being this person, but I'm genuinely surprised I made it this far. Am I alone in thinking this? Am I the only person on the planet who believes they're going to die young and is just confused when they complete another year on this planet?

Yes? Oh...okay.

So what have we learned in the past year Jen? What can you tell us about this life you've lived?

  • Well, to start off, capitalism is bullshit. Yes, I am a socialist, and suck my ass. Having a job to pay for, essentially, life, and then being poor all the time is such crap.
  • Nature is fleeting. As you read this sentence the Amazon is still burning.
  • Getting older is amazing. Less fucks to give. You'd be surprised at how amazing it is to walk outside with some leggings and a stained tee.
  • At some point you need to start getting your shit together. Find somewhere you wanna life, something you wanna spend your time doing for a LONG time. It'll be worth it. I have my happy place and it's time to get started on planning how to be there permanently.
  • Get a happy song. You'd be surprised at how much joy I get from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' version of "In the Hall of the Mountain King".
  • If you're not actually hurting someone, live your life the way you want to. Things are too fleeting for you to be miserable a lot of the time.
  • Watch more scary shit. Having fear is the smartest thing to do in this life. I speak from my stupidity and lack of certain fears which have led to many mistakes.
  • And finally, don't stand for peoples bullshit. All I can think of right now is the fact that I watched The Social Network the other night (love David Fincher, and Aaron Sorkin is masterful). Anyway, had Armie Hammer punched Mark Zuckerburg, we'd all be telling a different story today. But he didn't, and facebook is still the biggest asshole of 2019, other than Amazon (the company, not the forest), of course.

What I'm really trying to say here is, maybe delete that fb that you never use (like I am), and watch The Social Network again. The soundtrack is amazing, and it's directed by David Fincher, and it has a pre-Call Me By Your Name Armie Hammer, and it forever ruined Jesse Eisenburg for me, and, yeah. It's like legit a good movie. I'm not sure what you were expecting. But also, maybe stop celebrating birthdays. It truly is just another day ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Until next time, here some shit:
